If you can’t sell, None of it matters

As we all know, sales are the most essential part for any business to be successful.  The most important lesson Mike Kappel’s dad told him was “Always remember this:  Anybody can build anything.  But if you can’t sell, none of it matters at all.”  This is so very true, without sales we would all fail at business.  We want to help you with some simple tips, most being little to no money out of pocket, to help your small business grow in the United States.

Simple Tips to Help Your Sales

  • Increase sales through your current customers. Your existing customers should be your number one priority.  They have already purchased a product or service from you, so they have learned to like and trust you.  Once you have built a relationship with your clients, they are more willing to share current challenges they are facing. By listening to them, you can easily analyze how you might be able to help them address these challenges by offering new or alternative products. This approach allows you to continue to be a good partner while also increasing your revenue.

  • Increase sales with new customers. You also want to focus on converting prospects or leads into paying customers or clients.  Do an audit on your website and other marketing strategies, are you focusing more on the product’s features or the benefits?  You need to make sure that you are sharing with your potential customer or client the benefits to your product or service, not so much the features.  How will your products or services help the customer?  Will it make life easier?  Will it help save them some money?

  • Bundle your products and services. Most consumers, when they see a bundled deal, they instantly think they are saving money.  They may be saving a buck or two, but that is all you need to help close the sale.  Try and keep your bundles flexible so that you can work with the consumer’s individuals needs.  If you can stay flexible, you are sure to succeed.

  • Use social media to your advantage! It doesn’t matter how large or small your following is on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram, using social media is a great way to share and promote your products and services.  Customer testimonials are a great way to get noticed on social media.  But remember, you don’t want to always talk about your products.  If there is a great article on Twitter about entrepreneurship and you think others should read it, share it!  This will help you with your engagement and get more followers.

  • Raise your Prices! It may not seem right to raise your prices, but if there is value in your product and services the consumer is sure to see it too.  Here is an amazing quote from Laura Harte (also known as Wonder Woman):  “My grandpa told me while working in his car dealership one day to raise the price on a 1967 Navy blue Chevy Impala. (Still my favorite car to this day!)  It had been there 2 weeks and hadn’t sold.  I said, ‘Well shouldn’t we lower the price then?  That way it will sell?’  He said, ‘Laura Annie, you never lower the price of something of high value.  People see value when you show it to them.’  He raised the price $1,000, and it sold the next day.”  Once you do raise your prices, be sure to share it with everyone, everywhere especially on social media.
